How Darkole works

Search once. Choose the next step.

Darkole connects four separate parts of the experience: search results, autocomplete suggestions, provider-hosted previews and an independent download service.

  1. Enter a search or paste a supported URL

A normal query opens Darkole's results page. Pasting a valid, recognised media URL can take you directly to its watch page.

  2. Google supplies the search results

Darkole uses Google Programmable Search to return public pages from the platforms included in the search engine configuration.

  3. Bing may suggest search phrases

As you type, Darkole may send the current text to Bing's autocomplete service so it can return suggested queries.

  4. The original provider supplies the preview

For supported links, Darkole loads a provider player or embed method. The media stays hosted and delivered by the original website.

  5. Cobalt supplies download options

If Download is available, Darkole passes the media URL to Cobalt in a new page. Cobalt is a separate third-party service.

Search

Google Programmable Search supplies the result titles, snippets, links and thumbnails shown on the results page. Darkole limits and organises the experience around supported video and media platforms, but does not create or control the underlying search index.

Autocomplete is separate from results: Bing may receive the words entered into the search field and return suggested phrases. You can ignore suggestions and submit your own query.

Preview

Darkole recognises supported provider URLs and, where technically available, constructs the provider's player or embed presentation. The video, audio, image and related data are requested from the provider, not from Darkole. Providers may set cookies, collect technical data, require login, restrict regions or ages, display their own notices or advertising, and withdraw embed access.

A working preview is not a copy of the media and does not mean Darkole owns, approves or has licensed it.

Download

The Download button is a hand-off, not a Darkole-hosted downloader. Darkole currently sends a recognised source URL to Cobalt. Cobalt is not owned, operated or controlled by Darkole, and its service may change or be unavailable.

Before continuing, review Cobalt's terms and privacy information. You remain responsible for having the necessary rights or permission.

Why some actions are unavailable

Provider URLs and embed formats vary. A result may be searchable but not previewable or downloadable. Private, deleted, login-only, age-restricted, region-restricted or unsupported media may fail even when its URL format is recognised. Darkole deliberately does not place arbitrary web pages inside preview frames.
